Join Prof. Krcmar next Friday, June 25, 2021, at 12 p.m., as he opens the eGov Campus Lecture Series with a lecture on "Digital Platforms as the Engine of Digitalization in Administration! And of digital sovereignty?". The talk will be held in German.

Digital platforms are an elementary component of business, media, politics and society. They have evolved into complex ecosystems and can re-energize, endanger or create entirely new markets. However, in view of strong U.S. platforms and Asian companies, Germany and Europe increasingly seem to be losing the "digital connection" to global developments. With the increasing relevance of digital platforms and their growing influence on the ability of the state, companies and society to communicate, do business and innovate, there is a growing need to secure digital sovereignty with regard to the development and use of platforms. The opportunity for Germany and Europe here lies in proactively determining in which public, scientific and economic areas platform-based ecosystems should or even must be technically developed and operated.

These and other exciting aspects will be discussed in the first lecture of the eGov-Campus lecture series.
