BPAIS: Building LLMs and Semantic Models for the Process Modeling and Mining Pipeline

The project aims at investigating the opportunities of employing Large Language Models (LLMs) and Semantic Models in different phases of the process life cycle, in particular, when creating and redesigning process models and during process analysis and mining. The idea is to support humans in these life cycle phases, i.e., the process modelers and analysts as well as the domain experts. The latter is the main goal of conversational process modeling, i.e., the creation and redesign of process models by the domain expert in interaction with a chatbot.

The BPAIS project is funded by SAP Signavio and is part of larger initiatives:

1) The AI-driven process automation and mining initiative at the i17 Chair. Here synergy effects arise with the TRPro project on "Taming the Impact of Regulatory Document Changes on Process Compliance" (https://gepris.dfg.de/gepris/projekt/514769482) and the CDP project with its strong focus on process automation, process mining, and predictive process monitoring.

2) The Very Large Business Applications project at the i17 Chair.

3) The Large Process Models Initiative focusing on Business Process Management in the Age of Generative AI .

Prof. Rinderle-Ma serves as a Principal Investigator (PI) of the BPAIS project and Nataliia Klievtsova as scientific staff member.
