Advances in computer technology enable us to acquire large amounts of multimodal intraoperative data. A considerable part of the collected data cannot be perceived intraoperatively by the operating team, because visual displays are not always suited to present all the collected data. Sonification, the systematic acoustic provision of data, has great potential to solve these challenges. The challenge lies in the development of an ergonomic, informative, and intuitive sound design. In this project, we aim to analyze and sonify various intraoperative signals. Our focusing points are surgical data analysis, intuitive sound designs, and development of OR compatible robust systems, and validation by extensive clinical studies demonstrating the potentials of this novel approach.
