Dr. Christoph Goebel received the diploma degree in information engineering and management from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany, in 2006 and the Ph.D. degree in information systems from Humboldt-University Berlin, Germany, in 2009. Until his graduation, he spent a year studying computer science at the Federal Institute of Technology at Lausanne, Switzerland, and half a year at Carnegie Mellon University at Pittsburgh, USA. After completing his dissertation, he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California at Berkeley, USA, for 1.5 years. In Berkeley, he started research in the area of sustainable energy management. Currently, he is a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Computer Science, Technical University Munich, Germany, where he coordinates the Energy Informatics research group at the Chair of Application and Middleware Systems. His research interests are in the area of using information technology: (i) to facilitate renewable integration with flexible loads and storage devices, and, (ii), to improve energy efficiency in different cyber-physical systems.
