Colloquium
Welcome to SE Colloquium, our almost weekly appointment for talks on software engineering research. We host presentations of works by our students (including, but not limited to, thesis presentations and research or implementation projects), our research team, and invited guests.

The colloquium is held every Thursday, from 14:15 to 15:45 as a hybrid meeting.
Join using your web browser with the following link:

You can also join in person in room E3.2.09 in the E-building at the TUM Campus Heilbronn, Edisonstr. 3, 74076 Heilbronn.
Please note that the building is only accessible to TUM employees. If you are a student presenting your thesis, please ask your supervisor to be let in. If you are an unaffiliated guest attendee, please inform the colloquium organizer (Marvin Muñoz Barón) at least two days in advance. They will let you in.
The SE Colloquium is held as a joined event with the ESE colloquium at the University of Stuttgart.
Attending the Colloquium is free to the public. We welcome external attendees!
- Your talk should take approximately 10 minutes (intermediate presentation) or 20 minutes (final presentation). Afterwards, there will be 10 minutes time for questions. If your talk takes longer than that, we might have to cut it.
- Know your audience! While we are all Software Engineering researchers, some of us are not familiar with more specific topics. Some of us do their research on testing, others on requirements engineering. A quick introduction to specific concepts (1 sentence is probably enough) helps to keep everybody on the same page.
- Test in advance that everything works. You need to be able to share your screen via BBB and you need a working internet connection. You need to connect a Click&Share device via USB-C, if you present in person. Join the BBB Session in time.
- You should give your talk in person, if possible. As the colloquium is taking place in Heilbronn, we do understand that Garching students do not want to travel that far, and can give their talks online instead. If you are unsure what to do, consult with your supervisor.
- Add slide numbers to your slides. This helps a lot with asking questions.
- If you are presenting, please stay for the entire duration of the colloquium.
- Talks should be scheduled 14+ days in advance. When scheduling a talk, try to group talks together (avoid filling dates with only one presentation), and try to mix intermediate and final talks.
- You can schedule a talk using the shared Google Sheets document. Please review the colloquium page on Collab for more information.
- Please do a test run with the BBB software in advance. Your student should know how to use the program.
- If your student plans to present in person, please make sure to let the student into the building and lead them to the meeting room.
- If your student is doing their final presentation, please be aware that some study programs have a graded presentation. Make sure to take notes and document their performance.
- Please ask questions and provide feedback to students whenever possible.
- If your student plans to invite visitors, please inform the colloquium organizer (Marvin Muñoz Barón) at least two weeks in advance so they may book a larger room.
