Larissa Rickler: Multilevel Delayed Acceptance Modelling with SeisSol
SCCS Colloquium |
Physics‑based earthquake scenario analysis relies on dynamic‑rupture simulations that are often too expensive for classical Bayesian inversion. This thesis develops a practical multilevel delayed‑acceptance MCMC workflow that couples a fast elastic approximation with an accurate viscoelastic model and exposes both via UM‑Bridge. We demonstrate the approach on the SCEC TPV13 benchmark by inferring the static friction coefficient from synthetic, noise‑perturbed observations.
