Biography
My name is Nick Henze and I am a PhD candidate at the Chair of Information Infrastructures at TUM Campus Heilbronn. I earned a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), specializing in Collaborative Distributed Machine Learning (CDML) systems. My current research investigates the application of Neural Architecture Search (NAS) in federated learning systems. NAS methods algorithmically explore a predefined search space to identify neural architectures that meet performance requirements under given constraints (e.g. computational constraints). Federated learning systems can vary greatly and differ in aspects such as data distribution or client heterogeneity. I am interested in how the design of NAS methods influences their suitability for different federated learning systems.
