New Article on Large Language Model Architectures in Health Care published in the Journal of Medical Internet Research

Our study emphasizes that selecting the right LLM model is crucial for optimizing its application in clinical workflows. BERT models, with their flexibility for domain-specific applications, may be more suitable for innovative medical tasks, while GPT models are ideal for interaction-based functions. GPT-based models, known for their generative capabilities, excel in communicative tasks like report generation and patient communication. On the other hand, BERT-based models, which process language bidirectionally, show stronger results in medical tasks such as knowledge discovery and classification.
