Julia Sasse, Ph.D.
Julia Sasse is a Research Fellow at the Chair of Cyber Trust. She studied Psychology at the University of Düsseldorf and received her PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Groningen in 2017. Previously, she was a Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods, Bonn, Germany and a visiting PhD student at IDC Herzliya, Israel.
Her research is concerned with reactions to social conflict and norm transgressions in offline and online environments, with a particular focus on different functions of emotions in these reactions.
Currently, Julia is working on a project with the TUM Institute for Ethics in Artificial Intelligence (IEAI) mapping the potential of automated interventions against sexist and harassing online behavior to increase women’s online participation. Drawing from (social) psychological insights, she investigates which characteristics of automated interventions promote beneficial psychological outcomes, such as feeling safe and speaking up.
