Practical Seminar: Initiative Digital Transformation

About the Seminar
Digital transformation is not only redefining business models but also reshaping entire industries. In this seminar, students will work in close cooperation with SAP and other selected industry partners to explore real-world transformation projects. Through structured case study research, interdisciplinary student teams will derive strategic insights and develop practical recommendations for firms navigating technological change.
This seminar offers participants the unique opportunity to present their findings to high-level executives, such as Member of the Supervisory Board of SAP, and gain hands-on experience at the intersection of technology, strategy, and organizational change.
Learning Objectives
Participants will:
- Understand the drivers and dimensions of digital transformation
- Learn to assess the strategic impact of technologies such as GenAI, cloud computing, Big Data, predictive analytics, and in-memory databases
- Apply case study research methodologies in a real-world setting
- Visit company sites for a hands-on experience
- Develop industry-specific transformation strategies
- Present actionable recommendations to senior stakeholders
Format, Participation & Eligibility
The seminar is designed as a block format and includes in-person sessions at both TUM Campus Heilbronn and SAP headquarters. Students will work in teams of four, each conducting an in-depth case study with a corporate partner undergoing digital transformation.
Participation is open to:
- Master’s students from both the School of Computation, Information and Technology and the School of Management
- Applicants with a strong academic and industry record and a demonstrated interest in digital innovation
Travel and accommodation costs for site visits (e.g., SAP HQ in Walldorf) will be covered.
