New Article in the Journal of Information Technology published: "From ideology to design: Toward purposeful decentralization of information systems governance"

As our world is quietly rewired by digital systems (from cloud computing to blockchains to AI) the real question is no longer what technology can do, but who holds the power behind it. History teaches us that control does not move in a straight line; it swings, like a pendulum, between centralized or decentralized forms, between control and coordination. In this article, we offer a simple but powerful lens: the (De)centralization Dynamics Pendulum (DDP). DDP helps to understand these shifts not as fate, but as choices shaped by design, governance, and collective will. And perhaps the deeper insight is this: the future of digital systems will not be decided by technology alone, but by how wisely we choose to share control.
