Chair of Information Infrastructures at ECIS 2026

On June 14, Prof. Dr. Ali Sunyaev attended editorial meetings of the Journal of Information Technology (JIT), contributing to discussions on the future development of the Information Systems discipline. At the Digital Health Workshop, organized by the Digital Health Special Interest Group of the German Informatics Society (Gesellschaft für Informatik), Dr. Philipp Reindl-Spanner and Shanshan Hu presented their ongoing research and exchanged ideas with researchers and practitioners on current developments and future directions in digital health.

During the main conference, researchers from the Chair and their collaborators presented several accepted research papers:

• PETs in Context: An Exploration of Privacy-Enhancing Technologies for Everyday Internet Use
• The Impact of Customising Anthropomorphic Conversational Agents on Users’ Trusting Beliefs
• The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Organizational Routines in Healthcare: A Longitudinal Case Study
• Not All Fun and Games: Boundary Blurring in Professional eSports

The presented work addressed topics including privacy-enhancing technologies, human–AI interaction, digital health, and the societal implications of emerging digital technologies, reflecting the Chair’s broad research portfolio in Information Systems.

In addition to presenting research, Dr. Philipp Reindl-Spanner served as associate editor and session chair for the Health Information Technology track, facilitating scholarly exchange within one of the conference’s key research communities.

Beyond the paper sessions, ECIS 2026 provided valuable opportunities for networking, collaboration, and discussions with researchers from around the world. The Chair’s participation further strengthened its international visibility and engagement within the global Information Systems community.
