Description
Building reliable data systems in the cloud requires a distributed architecture to guarantee fault tolerance, availability, and durability.
At the core of many distributed systems are replication and consensus algorithms that facilitate the implementation of systems ranging from replicated state machines to distributed database systems.
This seminar will explore fundamental replication and consensus algorithms and their use in contemporary cloud data systems.
The seminar’s goal is to introduce students to these fundamental concepts and enable them to identify the differences and common concepts of the discussed protocols.
Preliminary Meeting Time: July 15, 10:00AM
